Screw

A screw is a type of hardware fastener that is characterized by a helical groove extending around the shank’s circumference. This design provides the friction and traction that serves a screw’s purpose: to assemble or position two workpieces in relation to each other. Screws can be inserted into pre-tapped holes or can perforate a material to create its own internal thread. They are fastened by torque applied to the head.

Screws can be made from a variety of materials, each with its own properties. For example, aluminum screws are light, resistant to oxidation, and easy to manufacture. Brass screws are strong, conductive, and corrosion-resistant. Copper alloy screws have good load capacity and wear resistance. Molybdenum screws have a very high melting point and are exceptionally strong. There are also screws made from superalloys that exhibit good mechanical strength, surface stability, and corrosion resistance, even at high temperatures. Titanium screws are hard and strong, light, and corrosion-resistant. The specific type of screw used will depend on the materials being bonded and the requirements of the task.
